Did you happen to notice the picture that accompanies this blog entry? Kindly take a look at it again. What could it possibly be? Last year some work was being done in the building where I live. The workers left behind barrels of construction debris and a carpet. This carpet has been in the backyard for well over a year, through late spring, summer, fall, winter, and spring again. It has seen hail, snow, ice, wind, rain, frost, and a few sunny days.
The only thing it hasn’t seen is someone coming back to haul it away. The other day I happened to take a look at the carpet and noticed plants growing out of it. Mother Nature is making good use of it. I tried to interest the landlord’s son in bringing it into the lobby of his business. It would make quite a conversation piece, a carpet-garden. I even offered to come by to water it periodically. Surprisingly, he refused. I have decided to leave it in the backyard. It might sprout delightful plants and flowers or at the very least be my personal weed garden.
As I write this, Spirit is giving me this message to pass along: Nothing ever really goes away, it just changes into something else.
Blessings to you from Summer!
