Love and Healing During the Holidays I am noticing that people have triggers during the holidays that may bring about unexpected feelings of sadness, reminiscence and a time of wanting to be with old loves and old friends that they are not able to spend time together with as they once did in the past.I too find it hard to deal with the loss of others to death or disconnection and I make sure that I am being good to myself and living in the presence or in the moment. I am convinced that purging these feelings by intense ritual or other ways of letting go of the grief, the loss, the sadness and the anger to be very helpful for personal healing and also for the healing of others feeling triggered by the holidays.
In the US there is an expectation that the holidays are supposed to be happy days where we spend a lot of time and money that will somehow bring us to a place of joy and contentment by giving and receiving material gifts that all too often don’t live up to that promise.
To me this all too often leaves us in a place of spiritual emptiness and I am reminded of Tibetan Buddhist concept of the hungry ghost. The hungry Ghost is forever consuming as much as possible but is never fulfilled.
It is never enough and they wander filling themselves and never feeling satisfied. Remember that finding healthier ways of celebrating the holidays, creating new rituals and times with friends and family in an honest way which may not include that expectation of perfect happiness but does include love for one another is something that can be practiced as a new way of healing and loving each other in ways that bring us closer to the heart, closer to that place of interconnections, peace and love.
Sometimes it is not possible to be with family or even old friends. I think giving ourselves permission to dig deep and to love and grow and grieve can bring one to a place of acceptance of interconnection to others here on earth and of being part of mother earth or Ghaia can be very freeing and a very loving experience.
The way I see it we are never totally alone no matter where we are. One of the best ways to find that feeling of connection is to have conversations with your spirit guides, plant teachers and angels. You may find when you ask them how to solve problems of the heart or how to help you find the best path to love and how to let go of loneliness that they have a good deal of wisdom to share. It takes time to really listen to your guides, plant teachers and angels for their answers to your spiritual, metaphysical and emotional questions. But its well worth it as I have come to know through my own experience.
Namaste, Aloha and Many Blessings
