Is Religion Becoming More Commercialized? By Lovable As a Christian I find myself often wondering why modern churches are losing sight of what “Church” is meant to be. I have been going to church since I was born. The first 16 years I was Catholic and later I converted to Born Again Christian where I have actively been serving faithfully.
But I cannot help but wonder at times why the usually bright and open churches where sunlight streams in the windows are now covered dark windows with crazy lights and loud music, like we are in some sort of concert. Maybe I am old school, but I sure do miss the old hymns and the preachers being more fire and brimstone.
As more Big churches are popping up all over (which is a good thing) I realize that things just have to change to curtail to the younger generations to keep them interested and while it may not be the “old school” church I am used too they all are serving a purpose to reach more for Jesus and entertaining to keep them coming back. The way the world is most churches are also incorporating security guards in place to keep watch.
But what I know really matters is that “church” to me is a personal relationship with God, and the rest is the icing on the cake of sharing fellowship with like minded people. The moral of the story…..life changes and you just have to roll with it. Each generation has their own way.
