Foods and Moods
Does what you eat affect your level of happiness? In my opinion, the answer is definite yes! An unhealthy diet is a sure way for you to create depression. Our food affects our moods 100%. Look at it like this, everything we put into our bodies can either be a medicine or a poison. Taking it a step further and consider eating mindfully.
Here are a few tips that I have found useful:
1) Add Protein to each meal. Protein increases the release of hormones that boost your mood and energy long after you eat.
2) Certain vitamins help many mood disorders. Vitamin D, folate and B-12: Here are some foods with these vitamins are: Broccoli, lentils, oatmeal, dark leafy greens, cottage cheese.
3) Make sure you are getting enough fibre. Fibre helps you slow down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream and increases serotonin which is nature’s feel-good chemical produced by the body. Here are some examples of foods you want to eat more of that are high in fibre: beans, pears, peas and brussels sprouts.
